Number: 03-22 Story: This scene is only a few miles above Lake Sabrina near Bishop. In 1994, I intended to photograph the falls but the water level was far too low. Over time the idea developed to juxtapose the waterfall and the distant summit of Picture Peak during the first moments of dawn on a clear morning. Finally in early July of 2003, I found the water flow strong enough for the image I had in mind. I composed my earliest image of the day close in on the waterfall with Picture Peak high-lighted with the red glow of first dawn. In this second composition, I pulled back to allow the yellow blooms of this streamside Shooting Star to add a foreground element. |
