Story: The
winters of 2005 and 2006 were very, very heavy here in the Eastern
Sierra. My son and I waited until August to make this trip across the
southern Ritter Range and then up Bench Canyon to southern Yosemite.
This particular evening was the beginning of a wet monsoon pattern
common in August. By afternoon the rains began, and I thought all was
lost for photography. During a break in the weather, I set up my camera
and left it in position with a shower cap over the top. Just at sunset
this light appeared for seemed like a second! I had a chance to make
one hasty exposure. Dylan and I were worried the rest of the trip that
I made some mistake. But it worked!
