Story: The winters of 2005 and 2006 were very, very heavy here in the Eastern Sierra. I made many visits to Convict Lake but it took until March of 2006 to find a day with just the right clouds and wind on the snowy Laurel Mountain. Convict Lake and the mountains just behind are notoriously hard to photograph. In some ways, I was just lucky here! The exposures needed for fast moving clouds and snow are very difficult to predict and set on a large-format camera.
