Number: 08-3 Story: The early summer of 2008 had many smokey days due the fires in Big Sur. At much as I hate breathing, working and playing on these days, the photographic opportunities are often delightful at dawn and again at sunset. This image was set up right at Minaret Summit above Mammoth Lakes. I have used my camera here many times, and as a result I knew just what lens I would need, and just the right time to set up. I did not anticipate how far north the sun would set (to the right here). It peaked out of the smoke and clouds several minutes after I thought "sunset" was done! I have always had the habit of leaving my camera set up until the last moment and was able to make the exposure. One can never be sure! |
