Story: I
made this image of the ridgeline and summit of Mount Russell from the
summit of Mount Whitney in the most incredible light I'd seen in years.
The trip was outrageously cold -- coffee water re-froze in the mornings
within a few minutes! I was still in the fading sunlight when I made
the exposure and was so cold that I had to run inside the summit hut.
This image had always been one of my favorites and so I reprinted it in
the winter of 2008, taking advantage of the newest digital printing
techniques and printers. This result is truly faithful to the original
scene and the original transparency.
